Decoupage is an art form that dates back as far as the 12 century. It gained popularity in the 17th century throughout Europe. The word Decoupage comes from the French word “decouper”, which means “to cut”. As the name implies, Decoupage is a mixed-media art form that utilizes paint, non-toxic adhesive, lacquer, and ultra-fine papers embedded with digitized images.
These large English Scallops are beautifully proportionate and measure approximately 3.5 - 4” from top to bottom, and 3.5 - 4” from side to side. A unique feature of my decoupaged shells is that they come delicately drilled with a tiny hole at the top and are strung so that the shell can also be used as a hanging ornament! We carefully drill each shell before applying the decoupage treatment, so that you can also enjoy this piece as a collectible holiday ornament!
